GRAND ROUNDS-YOU CAN DO THIS!!! In Feb 07, Dr. Bruce Cohen came to UMC Jackson to speak about mitochondrial disease. The first session targeted families, allied health, disability organizations, providers, and caretakers. The second (Grand Rounds) was for doctors and other medical professionals. Dr. Cohen also met with Pediatric Specialists to discuss cases. In all, over 130 people learned more about mitochondrial disease. If you are willing to organize Grand Rounds through your hospital, PLEASE contact UMDF and let them know! You have to set it up through the hospital's Departments of Pedatrics, Neurology, or Genetics. Then you fax, email, and call affected families and professionals to generate interest. Ask for reservations from these potential attendees, and reserve a conference room and plan food arrangements accordingly. Then send attendees an email with time and location, and directions.

What you can do:
For free:
1. You can make http://www.goodsearch.com your home page in your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc.). You simply set up your browser to pull up the goodsearch website as your homepage. Specify UMDF as your recipient. Every time you get on the Internet and search, UMDF receives a small donation.

2. You can go to http://www.oprah.com and click "Find out what we're working on. Share your story." There is a list of topics. Select the most appropriate one and ask Oprah to do a show on mitochondrial disease.

3. You can join and shop with iGive. Search for "mitochondrial" to designate the UMDF as your recipient.

4. Wear a savejude.com tshirt! Ask us for one!

For a donation:
1. We set up a Jude Manley fund through UMDF. Donations to this fund will benefit all children with mitochondrial disease, and UMDF selects potential projects. Our family gets to select the final project and we have a great desire to be involved! You can make an online donation in Jude's honor to UMDF, or you can mail a donation in Jude's honor to:
